PLANT at Breeze - A Farm Enterprise Incubator

People Learning Agriculture Now for Tomorrow!

(PLANT)

The PLANT Farm Enterprise Incubator seeks to revitalize agricultural activity in
the Piedmont Region through training on small scale sustainable farming techniques.

The field component of the PLANT @ Breeze program is based at the

WC Breeze Family Farm Agricultural Extension & Research Center

in Hurdle Mills at 4909 Walnut Grove Church Road

The program consists of 8 workshops held on Wednesday evenings

from 6 to 9 PM during January and February on the following topics. 

Whole Farm Planning

Plants, Soils, Irrigation, & Equipment

Planting, Harvesting, & Crop Rotations

Marketing Opportunities & Challenges

Insects & Diseases

Weeds, Mulches, and Season Extension

Enterprise Development, Record keeping, Taxes, and Resources

Integrating Livestock into your Farm

 

Following the workshop and completion of a business plan and crop plan,

farm apprentices can lease land in 1/4-acre increments

and utilize equipment provided by the PLANT @ Breeze Program.

The WC Breeze Family Farm Agricultural Extension & Research Center is owned by NC State University College of Agriculture and Life Science. A master plan was developed in 2007.
